College Student Emergency Kits

College kids will start heading to school next month. Help them be prepared for power outages and other unexpected occurrences with their own emergency kits. Colleges and universities have emergency plans but not enough emergency supplies for all their students. Give your kids an advantage.

When my kids went to college, they left with a 72-hour emergency kit in a backpack. There were enough supplies to last them 3 days, which should have been enough time for them to reach the closest relative even if they walked. None of them needed it for an evacuation situation, but they did need it for power outages, cash emergencies, and other situations. Those kits also became the beginning of their preparedness supplies when they got married.

Help your kids through a minor or major emergency when you aren’t there to help by giving them their own emergency kit. Personalize it for them – for the location where they will be living, storage space available, personal needs, gender, etc. It will help them in the present and in the future.
