June is Pet Preparedness Month

Your pets need to be considered in your preparedness plans just like all your other family members. They need an emergency kit and a place to go during an emergency or disaster.

Not all shelters will accept pets so plan ahead and know where you will take your pet if you have to evacuate.

Build a portable emergency kit for your pet. The kind of animal you have, the size of your pet, and the health of your pet will determine what you include.

Make sure you have a way to identify your pet should he/she get away.

More information can be found on www.simplyprepared.com, on Ready.gov, and from your local ASPCA and Humane Society.
