“Hurricane Ike is my first hurricane as an adult. I’ve been through many tropical storms over the years including Tropical Storm Allison, one of the most costly storms in U.S. history. I have been through several typhoons, the Eastern hemisphere equivalent of hurricanes, but as a teenager. None of them had the same effect on me as Hurricane Ike. I knew I would get through Ike, but I didn’t know what I would have to go through to get through it and I was a little hesitant to find out.”
So begins my 34-day journal of my Hurricane Ike experience from the day/night Ike hit my area of Harris County, Texas to the day all of our utilities were finally restored.
