Financial Preparedness Month

The All is Safely Gathered In: Family Home Storage pamphlet encourages:

“Establish a financial reserve by saving a little money each week and gradually increasing it to a reasonable amount.”

And in the All is Safely Gathered In: Family Finances pamphlet it states:

“Latter-day Saints have been counseled for many years to prepare for adversity by having a little money set aside. Doing so adds immeasurably to security and well-being. Every family has a responsibility to provide for its own needs to the extent possible.”

April is National Financial Preparedness Month. Ready.gov teaches many of the same financial preparedness principles leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do in the above pamphlets and have taught for many years. Go to https://www.ready.gov/financial-preparedness to learn 3 steps to being better financially prepared for a disaster. There’s a link to an Emergency Financial First Aid Kit and ideas for keeping your information safe.

Take the time to gather important documents and information and make a plan for saving money in an emergency fund. Both will make future unexpected occurrences easier to get through.

If you are interested in taking a look at the manual for The Personal Finances for Self-Reliance course offered in many of the congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it can be found at this link.
