Be prepared for power outages with alternative cooking methods. There are only a couple of methods – Sterno stove, butane stove – that can be used indoors. Make sure you have one of them because you may not want to be outside cooking during a natural disaster or other kind of emergency, or at night.
If you can’t find a folding Sterno, or canned heat, stove, make one yourself from clean, empty cans. The instructions are at this link. A stove can be made from 24-ounce, 29-ounce, and #10 cans. Each size will hold different size cooking pans. The smaller stoves may be easier to use if they have smaller fuel cans. Purchase fuel accordingly.
