Our Goal: To
teach and encourage preparedness of all kinds and to provide reliable
information that encourages and inspires the regular use of preparedness
resources and supplies, especially in the Southern US climate.

Cheryl was raised in a
military family and has lived around the world. Over 40 years have
been spent living in Texas both before and after getting
married. Her university education is in Food Science and Nutrition from
Brigham Young University. She has taught home storage and preparedness
classes since 1977 and has had a regularly used personal home storage program
since 1974. In addition to teaching, she has organized fairs, conferences,
socials, and workshops that focus on home storage and preparedness. Cheryl
worked in the
LDS Church cannery and storehouse system helping to supervise both
dry and wet pack canning and peanut butter canning. Having held various
leadership positions in
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she
served as a ward
Relief Society president for nearly 4 years and in the Stake
Relief Society presidency for the same amount of time. She has been a
member and chairman of the
Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce Emergency Preparedness Task
Force and has represented that organization as a preparedness speaker throughout
the Houston metro area and at the 2002
Neighborhoods USA convention. Cheryl represented her
church as a speaker at the Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston 2006
Interfaith Disaster Preparedness Conference, also. She
and her husband, Allan, are the parents of
5 daughters
and grandparents of 20 grandchildren. They live in Spring, Texas, a
suburb of Houston and are Hurricane Ike survivors. |
